Welcome to Germany is the Wurst

Hi, and thanks for stopping by. Germany is the Wurst is your source for humorous observations from a Midwesterner who has been living in Germany for the past decade and reeeeally misses Culver’s and Kwik Trip. Newsletter topics provide insights into traditions, holidays, events, culture, and family life in Germany, all from my perspective, of course.

Why subscribe?

Germany is the Wurst is a free newsletter and always will be, mostly because I have a day job which, among other financial benefits, covers my supa sweet German health insurance. And, since I have a day job and two young children, I only have time to write a newsletter every other week. Ipso facto, I will not flood your inbox.

Consider subscribing if you:

  • are wondering why anyone would ever want to permanently move to Germany.

  • are interested in learning more about German culture and traditions through the lens of an uncultured American.

  • are German and like laughing at yourself.

About Me

My motto is to Genieße das Leben in vollen Zügen, or enjoy the life in full trains, which is definitely not hard to do when I am traveling with the Deutsche Bahn (ba dum tss). I’ve been living in Germany and working in the German higher education system since 2015 and am based close to Frankfurt am Main with my German husband and two half-German kids.
