Thanks. But your birthday plan shows you don't yet understand Germany fully.

If your birthday falls on the weekend, no Potato German would accept to take the Friday off because "Mann darf nicht vorfeiern."

In Germany, the idea of celebrating your birthday in advance is verboten. So, your new political party would need to stress that if someone's birthday fell on the weekend, then they should get the Monday off.

Alles Gute!

Ah yes, thank you for pointing that out. I've actually written about Potato German Birthday Culture in a previous newsletter, https://germanyisthewurst.substack.com/p/germany-is-the-wurst-no-9

If my birthday falls on a Saturday, I could take Friday off to prepare for the celebrations, but of course, not celebrate (but maybe reinfeiern). I think the party should keep this for maximum flexibility.

Alright, as long as the Friday activities are restricted to purely Potato German activities like Kuchenbacken and of course, cleaning, cleaning, cleaning.

I love them. Argh difficult to choose but I guess I go with the rest and vote for an extra holiday for my birthday 🤣

It's always so refreshing to read your newsletter. I love it!! I will vote for the birthday party I think. Will it be possible to move your free (birth-)day to another day, because a day off in January isn't as valuable as a day in the summer!?!

Thank you! Yes, I think that could be part of the party's platform. Or, they could extend their platform to include an automatic three weeks off in summer for Kita/school breaks :)
